I am launching a free volunteer-run English club in Tokyo Japan for elementary school kids age 6-12. The idea is simple: give kids a relaxed place to build confidence in every core English skill—speaking, listening, reading and writing—while also making new friends and having fun. Where I need your expertise is in turning this vision into a practical, well-structured program that volunteers can pick up and run smoothly week after week. The sessions will revolve around games, storytelling, arts & crafts, plenty of English singing and dancing, the occasional field trip, guest speakers, and even music or dance recitals. If you have experience designing ESL curricula for young learners, organising community events, or creating engaging, hands-on lesson materials, you’ll fit right in. Familiarity with Tokyo’s permitting requirements, child-safety guidelines, or local volunteer networks would be a bonus. Ciritical in this project is your understanding of Japan and Japanese culture. Experience setting up ESL classes in America is completely different than setting up ESL classes in Tokyo Japan. The extreme challenge is finding and recruiting kids and mothers who speak English. Finding English speaking kids is extremely difficult. 99% of Japanese will never speak English, even after several hundred English classes. If you are not familiar with Japanese culture, this project is not for you. Deliverables I’m aiming for: • A 10-week modular lesson plan (45-minute sessions) that blends all of the above activities and balances skill practice. • Printable activity sheets, song lyrics, flashcards and craft templates. • A simple volunteer handbook covering child-protection basics, setup/cleanup routines and session flow. • Bilingual (JP/EN) flyer and short social-media copy to help recruit families and volunteers. • Social media presence including website, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok (Japanese only). Everything should be easy to replicate with common classroom supplies and minimal budget. The group will rent a meeting room in a public building such as a community center or library. This project is funded entirely by the founder. Except for supplies, uniform, and incidental expenses, there is no charge to the students. The only requirement is mom speaks some English. Mom must be willing volunteer some time. The child wants to learn English. If this sounds like your kind of project, let’s chat about timelines and how we can bring this club to life for the kids of Tokyo.

Hello, I have experience designing structured ESL-style programs for young learners that focus on confidence-building through play, storytelling, music, and interactive group activities. I also specialize in turning educational ideas into repeatable, volunteer-friendly systems that are easy to run with minimal training and low-cost materials. I understand that working in Japan requires a very different approach compared to general ESL settings, especially in terms of cultural expectations, parental involvement, and building trust within local communities. I focus on simple, respectful, and highly structured programs that align well with group-based learning culture, routine consistency, and parent-led engagement models. For your English club in Tokyo, I would design a 10-week modular curriculum with clear 45-minute session flows, combining speaking games, songs, crafts, and storytelling in a predictable structure so volunteers can confidently lead sessions. I will also create printable materials (flashcards, worksheets, crafts), a volunteer handbook with child-safety and session guidance, and bilingual JP/EN outreach materials to support recruitment of families and volunteers. I can also help structure a simple social media strategy to attract English-speaking mothers and build awareness locally in a realistic, community-focused way. Best regards, Abbas Ali

Drawing on my experience as a Full Stack Developer, I bring to your English club project in Tokyo a keen eye for detail, an understanding of how to create user-friendly and easy-to-replicate systems, and a knack for clear communication. While setting up ESL classes in America may differ from Tokyo in cultural context and dynamics, my adaptable nature enables me to be in sync with your unique project necessities. To address the challenge of locating English-speaking kids and mothers, I can leverage my approach to building bilingual websites and proficiency with social media platforms including Japanese exclusive ones like TikTok. This will aid program promotion among potential volunteers and families, ultimately increasing participation. Additionally, my technological stronghold will support the creation of printable materials such as activity sheets, song lyrics, flashcards, and craft templates that are not only engaging but affordable.

Hi, I can develop a complete, culturally adapted ESL program for your volunteer English club in Tokyo that is realistic, structured, and easy for non-professional teachers to run. I understand the Japanese context well enough to know that success depends more on engagement, trust with parents, and repetition-based learning than traditional ESL curriculum design. My approach would be to design a 10-week “activity-first” syllabus where each session blends English exposure with play-based learning—songs, storytelling, crafts, movement games, and simple conversation patterns. I will also include clear volunteer instructions so sessions remain consistent even with rotating helpers, which is very important in community-run programs in Japan. You’ll receive lesson plans, printable learning materials, bilingual recruitment flyers (JP/EN), and a lightweight volunteer handbook covering safety and classroom flow. I can also support basic strategy for reaching English-speaking families through local channels and social platforms. https://www.freelancer.pk/u/salahuddin1973 Kind regards, Naufal

Hi — your project caught my attention for one reason: You’re not trying to teach English. You’re trying to make kids feel safe enough to use it. And in Japan, that’s the real challenge. Most ESL programs fail here not because of content — but because children feel exposed, and mothers don’t feel integrated into the process. I wouldn’t approach this as a traditional curriculum. I would structure it as a repeatable engagement system, where: * English is learned through interaction, not pressure * Confidence is built before correction * Mothers become part of the environment (not just observers) * Volunteers can run sessions without confusion or dependency This includes: • A 10-week modular system (not just lesson plans) • Activity logic (why each element exists and how it connects) • Volunteer flow system (so anyone can replicate it بسهولة) • Bilingual positioning for attraction (kids + mothers) My background is in building structured, adaptable systems — not just content — which is critical in a culturally sensitive environment like this. If this aligns, I can outline the structure before we move forward.

Hi I want to start by saying that this is an amazing project to work on. With the increase of digital literacy, we have forgotten how to use the language. This is going to be beneficial for the students. As a TESOL certified teacher, I have a partial ESL module ready for young minds. With five years of experience and two years of teaching English to non-native speakers, I also have a list of challenges that were faced and have been working on those while making the module. Let me know if we can discuss this further. All the best.

When it comes to creating engaging educational experiences, my skills align directly with what you're looking for in this Tokyo-based kids' club. While I don't have a background specifically in ESL instruction or event organization, I do offer something unique yet highly relevant - an intimate understanding of the underlying technology that can enhance your programs and give them broader exposure. A solid web presence coupled with effective use of social media platforms is crucial for ensuring maximum reach and deeply engaging the community we aim to serve. As a professional website developer and designer, my primary focus has always been to make online platforms not just visually appealing but also high-performing and user-friendly, something that dovetails perfectly with the tech component of your project. Additionally, my experience in UI/UX design could be particularly valuable here as we create digital activities for the kids and engage their parents remotely through bilingual social-media content. I harbor no illusions about how different setting up ESL classes in Tokyo Japan will be compared to America; I'm eager to listen, learn, and tailor solutions specifically for your needs.
