i might have built something like this in the past using the pi and can modify it for you, i made a display system for a movie theater to be able to display movie posters from a central server to like a bunch of raspberry pi's. if you could elaborate your needs i should be able to build what you need.

I have done similar work in the past for prototyping feasibility of using RPI as a signage player for advertising. And later they changed to Android based player, as they had mor layout requirements. If it is simple video playback then it can be done using python program with inbuilt omxplayer and a small flask based server to communicate the schedules.
