Am a car enthusiast having extensive knowledge in vehicles more so in design work. I have previously done some double wishbone suspension design and fabrication. The desired sub frame considering you intend to use locally available material within Australia, I would prefer using some chromoly tubings, preferably 2 inches in diameter. The mounting can be done using some mild steel plates. The sub frame this way will be light, chromoly is strong considering its application in motorsport fabrication.
