Title: Research & Locate Rare Prepress Equipment (Durst / Kodak LVT) – Europe Description: I am looking for a resourceful and persistent researcher to help locate a working large-format prepress film recorder (Durst or Kodak LVT) anywhere in Europe. This is a sourcing and investigation task—not a design or creative job. Target machines: Durst LVT Rhino Durst LVT 1620 Kodak LVT Saturn Scope of work: You will search across the European market to identify machines that are no longer in active use but may still exist in storage, private ownership, or legacy prepress environments. This includes: Contacting prepress companies, print shops, and repro houses Reaching out to used-equipment dealers and brokers Searching forums, classifieds, and industry groups Following leads and referrals (very important) Do NOT contact companies actively offering digital-to-film services. We are only interested in machines not currently in production use. Deliverables: You will maintain a structured list of all outreach and findings, including: Company / contact name Location (country, city) Contact details (phone/email) Machine model (if applicable) Condition / status (working, stored, unknown) Asking price (if available) Notes / source of lead Acceptance criteria: A clear, organized report of all contacted leads Evidence of active outreach (calls/messages, not just web links) High-quality leads prioritized over quantity Bonus: If you successfully identify a working machine for sale within Europe and provide a valid contact, you will receive a €1 000 bonus. --- Ideal candidate: Strong researcher / investigator mindset Comfortable with cold outreach (phone + email) Organized and methodical Persistent and able to follow weak leads Experience in printing or prepress is a plus, but not required. --- Screening questions (required): 1. Describe a project where you had to find hard-to-locate information, equipment, or contacts. What was your process? 2. Are you comfortable calling companies or individuals across Europe? Please describe your experience with cold outreach. 3. How would you track and organize all contacts and leads during this project? 4. If your first 20 contacts do not lead anywhere, what would you do next? 5. Outline the first 5 steps you would take to find one of these machines. 6. Write a short example message or call script you would use when contacting a company. 7. Which languages do you speak fluently?

Hi, This is not a simple search job it’s a sourcing investigation, and that’s why I’m interested. Machines like Durst or Kodak LVT are rarely listed publicly. In most cases they’re sitting unused in old prepress shops, storage, or with private owners. The right approach is targeted research, direct outreach, and consistent follow-up. 1. I’ve handled hard-to-find contact and research projects by combining directories, LinkedIn, archived sources, forums, and direct outreach until I reached the right people. 2. Yes, I’m comfortable contacting companies professionally by email and follow-up communication. 3. I’d track everything in a structured sheet: company, contact, country, machine model, status, notes, source, and next action. 4. If first 20 contacts fail, I’d expand into brokers, retired operators, associations, multilingual searches, and referral chains. 5. First 5 steps: Identify strongest European legacy print markets Build target list of old prepress/repro firms Search brokers/forums/classifieds Begin outreach Follow every lead quickly 6. Example message: Hello, I’m sourcing a Durst/Kodak LVT machine in Europe. If you know of any stored, unused, or available unit, I’d appreciate a referral. 7. Languages: English, Urdu, Punjabi (plus translation-assisted outreach if needed). I understand this requires persistence, not just web searching. Salah Uddin

Hi there. 1) I have successfully completed similar deep-sourcing investigations in the past, locating the name and details of a person that passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 1947. 2) Done call centre work and I was an outbound financial advisor too. 3) I would use an excel spreadsheet and Trello. 4) Reassess my strategy and adapt accordingly. See detailed approach below. 6) Hello, I'm a research consultant helping a client locate legacy prepress equipment. I'm calling to ask if your company still has, or knows of, any older large-format film recorders, specifically a Durst LVT Rhino, Durst LVT 1620, or Kodak LVT Saturn, that may be in storage or no longer in use. Even if you've decommissioned yours, any referral would be incredibly helpful. 7) English 5) I will scour archived industry forums (e.g., Photrio, PrintPlanet), expired classifieds, and old trade directories to identify historical owners and trace asset lineage. I will build a structured database of European prepress houses, repro labs, and print shops that operated large-format film recorders between 1995–2010, prioritizing regions with high historical adoption. I will contact specialized used prepress equipment dealers (such as those in the usedCTP network and regional machinery brokers) who often hold off-market inventory or know of units in storage. I will conduct targeted phone and email outreach, focusing on legacy businesses that may have machines in storage. Thanks. Gershon

Hi there, Answers to the screening questions; 1. I have done quite similar projects for a company in the investigation niche, but it was on-site, going to different locations. I used to get a project brief, a set of questions that I would need to ask local people if needed. It included taking pictures of sites and buildings, checking if a company exists or not, and then I had to report back to the company. 2. Yes, I'm totally fine to call such companies, but I would need a dialer. An alternative strategy would be to do cold emails first, which would lead to a discovery call. I'm currently working as an outreach assistant in the Energy/Sustainability niche, and this is how I conduct my cold outreach. 3. Everything will be recorded on a master spreadsheet, whether the contacts, main email, follow-up details, etc. 4. I will continue the research, findings, and outreach until we get the right prospect. 5. The steps will include: i) Contact finding (research). ii) Making an email template, follow-up templates, and an email signature (if needed). iii) Sending emails. iv) Doing Follow-ups. v) Doing Cold calls (KrispCall is perfect). 6. Script: Hi, I'm sorry to bother you. I'm looking for someone who might know about old prepress equipment. Am I in the right place? 7. I'm fluent in English and Urdu (my local language). I look forward to your response. Thank you.
