Customize WP Theme

Job Description:
Have a marketplace WP theme that needs to be customized a bit. The goal of the websites is to connect homeowners with contractors (plumbers, handymen, electricians, HVAC etc...). It's like Angi's list. I want the focus to be on geo search for now.
A user should be able to view a city, like New York, zoom in, and click on the appropriate location icons that take them to the Event/Freelance contractor's page.
Obviously, it won't look this good but here is an example of what the ideal listing should look like: [login to view URL]
Issue #1: I want this page to be the homepage: [login to view URL] (can send screenshot) but I want the map to display in the center of the page on top, and the search to be below it. Currently, the search appears to the left and the map is in the 2nd column on the right.
Issue #2: There are far too may filters. I only want two filters: 1 for category search, 1 for location search.
Issue #3: The Event Detail page (which I'm using as the contractor listing page) should feature a small picture, the contact information higher up the page and the description. I can't figure out how to get rid of the sidebar and all of the extra information (see screenshot).
Anyone who knows php and CSS should be able to do this job pretty easily. need this done ASAP.
