A letter sent by the Commanding Officer, 800 Naval Air Squadron, to the Captain of HMS Ark Royal, the Royal Navy's flagship at that time, thanking him for loaning me to the squadron to provide linguistic support to their deployment to Corsica to conduct an exercise. As the only French speaker in a team of more than 80 personnel, I was kept very busy during this period and gained immense satisfaction and a great deal of knowledge from it.

Dealing with major French clients. Responsible for planning pipeline survey missions throughout France, from logistics planning through to arranging meetings with clients to obtain work permits and discuss risk plans, dealing with hotel bookings, troubleshooting and post-mission report writing. All work was conducted on the assumption that the client spoke no, or very limited, English.

As one of two French speakers in a team of 15+ (the other being a native French speaker), my role was to deal with the company's French clients on a campsite in Catalonia, from the initial meet-and-greet, to advising on things to do in the local area, to resolving any problems that they might encounter during their stay, to arranging clients' departures to the satisfaction of all parties.
