Five years ago my father passed away from a prolonged illness. My mother, my father, and me had been people who always lived life for experiences rather than possessions-- and when he passed my mother suggested we honor his spirit and our families spirit by traveling.
Since his death my mother and I have been traversing Europe during winters and living in quiet times at our new "cosmic cottage," a fantasy place with rabbits, a wishing well, and wild deer that frequent our yard daily. Our home is in The Bay of Fundy with a population of 800 people.
Through this change in life I've been learning about the nature of myself and human nature. I've seen patterns emerge of the human archetype in our needs of love and belonging and purpose and experienced my character emerge among differences of language and culture. Its been an awakening, to see the belief systems and ingrained perceptions in my mind challenged by single people before me.
I'm a writer with a degree from Emerson College in Boston, who is an author and public speaker on topics of mental health. I'm also a travel writer in that my parents owned a travel magazine in the U.S Virgin Islands that I contributed to by covering stories of local culture and commerce.
I also contribute to psychiatric journals and travel The United States, Europe and Canada to speak on behalf of my work.
Thanks for taking the time to her a bit about me, and I'd love to hear some of your story as well.
