My early career was spent working in accountancy, internal auditing, and financial analysis. As an undergraduate I achieved a distinction in business economics. With my keen interest in development economics I studied for my MSc in regional and urban planning, and for my doctorate in economics at Oxford. My consultancy work has been interesting and varied – from the economics of rural livelihoods and developing bankable proposals for small businesses, to writing and editing academic papers. More recently I have been involved and preparing national economic recovery programmes and consultancy work for international organisations.
