Offers programming, database management/design, online training, I.T. educational documentation/services, consultancy, writing services, document conversion/transcribing and virtual office services Very reasonable rates, and fast turnaround with honest, and realistic target completion dates. Employment Halifax Bank Of Scotland 2006-2008 - Senior Infastructure Analyst I have just joined the ranks of Freelance professionals, having had 20 years of experience in I.T. This was my most recent full time position. Administrator of Harvest Source Code Control system and associated interfaces. I provided day to day support to developers, and produce reports in oracle/unix, and proactively research into new systems, trends and techniques in Software Configuration Management. This also includes the integration of new products into Harvest, such as Eclipse, and the creating of windows and unix agents, which communicate with the Harvest server. Also includes providing reports and ensuring data integrity and accuracy in the Software Configuration Management repository. Proactively find ways of improving the service and general support we provide to our developers, in controlling and securing their software in the Harvest Configuration Management system. Development of reports and automating tasks via unix scripts and oracle pl/sql was a key part of the role. Achievements: Provided day to day support for colleagues working on projects. I provided unix scripts in various flavours of unix, to provide interfaces between servers and clients. I provided numerous new oracle reports which provided added value to the team. I have also created unix agents, on Solaris, HP (both new Itanium platform and older RISC platform), and AIX. I represented team for extensive security review for use of 3rd party PC remote control product for my team. This took 9 months to put into place, given the strict security in place at HBOS. Many emails from customers reflecting satisfaction at the work I have completed whilst in support and working on various projects. Passed examinations and completed following courses whilst at HBOS: Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management/ITIL (ISEB). Software Configuration Management (Learning Tree International). Selby College. 2006-2006 - I.T. Lecturer Selby College. Duties. Lecturing/Tutoring and providing support for wide range of I.C.T. courses for absence, for mainly 16 – 19 year age range. Subjects covered are from A Level up to degree foundation level. Subjects as follows: Applied ICT (OCR) Foundation Degree in Systems & Network (CISCO). AVC ICT Unit Conversion Award IT Practitioners Software Development L2 Achievements: On these courses I assisted with writing code in VB, even though this is not my specialist skill. Because of my experience as a developer I managed to assist my students successfully. Shepherd Engineering (Contract, via Quantica Tech) 2005-2006 - Contract Oracle Developer Responsible for developing packages, stored procedures and developing new reports for Mosaic project, converting legacy systems into oracle format using integration tools and technologies. Also used PL/SQL to provide the forms developers with provided stored procedures. Working in all aspects of the business, including Estimation, Accounts and Personal systems. This also involved the use of various database schemas using ‘DezignerÂ’ software. Achievements: I was on a month rolling contract. At the end of each month my contract was reviewed. The contract rolled over for 12 monthe before they trained internal candidates to take on my role. Produced several conversion packages and reports ahead of schedule and budget, to users satisfaction and company standards. This was for three departments, i.e. Estimation, Accounts, and Personnel. My reports knowledge increased as a result of this work, and I learned some useful new skills and techniques in oracle report writing. This is in addition to the integration work and work with forms developers to assist them in their objectives. I was able to assist 2 different departments in achieving their objectives. Wanadoo 2002-2005 - Oracle Billing Developer Maintenance and reporting of internal Wanadoo databases. Involves upgrading/maintaining the internal problem/work request software, and writing text based reports on the databases associated with the Freeserve Portal and Billing systems using Oracle PL/SQL, unix (solaris version), and perl occasionally. This also included the maintance, integrity and accuracy of data. It also included optimizing data for the 2 million customers of Wanadoo, to provide efficient reports. Achievements: Used optimisation techniques, to write reports for billing system. This saved a lot of time in processing the reports, some of which were taking 10 hours or more to execute. The time saved was about 6 or 7 hours in some cases. Used all round skills to good effect as used perl./unix shell scripting, oracle forms, and C on various projects. Used version control systems (Starteam) and adhered to the internal life cycle review systems. Converted from different database types i.e. oracle to MySQL and vice –versa. Gained good understanding of the billing E.R. schema which was very complex, as it used the generic ‘portal’ system used for suppliers of internet based services. Passed portal course to gain in understanding, and obtained Portal certification. Leeds Metropolitan University/Wakefield Prison 2001-2003 - I.T. Lecturer / Tutor / I.T. Consultant Lectured and supported courses at Leeds Metropolitan University i.e. Introduction To Systems Analysis & Design and Internet Systems Implementation using PHP/MYSQL and ASP. Also taught basic I.T. at Wakefield maximum security prison, and basic Literacy & Numeracy. Achievements: In addition to lecturing and teaching students of degree level caliber at Leeds Metropolitan University I also taught at a basic level at Wakefield Prison. The prison position was particularly interesting as I got to mix with high risk prisoners (category A), and those unfortunate not to have had an education even when in their middle age. I was able to relate to both sets of students, at both the University and at the Prison, despite the diversity of standards involved. I also provided sound tuition and assessment to all my students. Online Consulting/Tutoring For Learn Direct: I was an online tutor for Learn Direct supporting a limited number of students, on a part time basis (about 10 - 20 hours per week). I have over the years provided I.T. support and mentored many students through their online courses. Achievements: Many students have completed their courses successfully on their online I.T. courses throughout the years, under my guidance. I have achieved certification as an online tutor, and I enjoy the challenge of answering new questions when they arise.
