I held off rating this worker because my feelings about the project outcome were somewhat ambiguous, but I`ve decided other employers should be aware of his tactics as a worker. To understand the project, you should review my original project and the worker`s (Thomas Snider, A.K.A. Inferno) bid. He stated that he “knew exactly?? how to do the project and provided enough relevant information to convince me to accept his bid. The key points of the project were that it use pure API and not the Winsock control; in addition, it should work much the same way Symantec Anti-virus does, i.e.; intercept email on the POP server port, allow other code to process it and then pass it on to the email client. After a final confirmation with Thomas, he indicated he understood the scope of work and had no questions. Within hours of accepting his bid, Thomas marked the project as completed and sent me exactly 20 lines of code, all using the Winsock control “because it was easier??. I refused to accept this and Thomas agreed to redo the project using pure API as originally agreed upon. However, his next version of the project, failed miserably at achieving the project goals, requiring a complicated configuration by the user and only allowing a single POP3 server to be used. The code constantly threw errors and “locked up?? the VB IDE, which made further diagnosis impossible. In answering follow up email, Thomas&'s replies were abrupt and he seemed reluctant to answer questions and explore the shortcomings of the coding any further. Due to time constraints on my part I decided to shelve project as I felt he was just wasting my time (he essentially “dumped?? the project on me to finish) at this point and so I accepted the work as completed. Today however, I received a private email from Thomas in which he now claims that he can code the original project as exactly as specified ??" for a bonus of course because he felt that the original project fee was insufficient! I did not force Thomas to bid what he did ??" this was his choice and he had every opportunity to ask for more money before moving forward with the project. I am deeply disappointed in this worker`s performance ??" he clearly lied to me in his project, intentionally substituted coding to make his own job easier and has now tried to convince me to pay him more money to actually do the project he agreed to do in the first place. Any employer hiring this worker will be wasting their time and money ??" as a Top Ten Worker myself, I can tell you that there are many far better, harder working and customer oriented workers at vWorker than Thomas has demonstrated himself ??" employer beware!
