Simulation of thermosyphon is performed using ANSYS FLUENT software which is subjected to pulsed heat input at its evaporator under steadily working state. The transient response of the thermosyphon is simulated in order to evaluate the thermal-fluid dynamics of the thermosyphon under different heat flux conditions.

Modelling and simulation of two-phase flow in a heat pipe

Axis-symmetric modeling was developed for the thermosyphon by considering zero circumferential gradients of flow variables. Evaporation and condensation mass transfer was simulated along with interfacial heat and momentum transfer. Results were obtained for the thermosyphon working steadily with a balance of evaporating and condensing masses.
