Many are planted on marshlands around here, being beech or birch, overcrowded the seedlings mostly grow old. Never used for their primary intent, waiting to die, never reaching their full potential, leaves torn off and swept away by harsh winds. No grass, bushes or any kind of undergrowth beneath them, just bare soil. Kind of an analogy to modern society. Maybe that's why these nurseries creep the hell out of me. . . An exercise in procedural texturing.
