Contest Brief
Want to have your work prominently displayed to millions of users? Want to earn a boatload of real MONEY? This is your chance to win $5000 cash!
We're also giving out a $500 second prize and a $250 third prize.
Freelancer.com needs a LOGO for one of our new products - Freemarket.com!
Freemarket.com will be an online auction platform for websites and domains - Similar to an ebay for websites and domains.
Let your imagination run wild and show us what you've got!
The winning logo will be the face of our new product - with millions of users seeing it!
Additional Details:
You can pick any style, it does not need to be in the same style as the freelancer logo.
The logo should be for the text "Freemarket".
The logo can be any color or style.
The logo can include .com if you want.
The best logos should include the original (for light backgrounds), an inverted version (for dark backgrounds), and monotone version. See http://www.shopify.com.au/press/design-guidelines for inspiration.
The best logos should also include a flavicon version.
The best entries will include insight to why a logo was designed the way it has been.

Just some general feedback to everyone:
- Please read the contest brief clearly. The winner will follow these guidelines :)
- We want the freemarket logo to be UNIQUE. Stay away from logos that look too similar to other well known brands / internet companies.
- We prefer not to have a shopping bag in our logo as it represents physical goods which we do not sell.
- We prefer not to have an origami bird as it is too close to the freelancer.com branding.
- Please explain WHY you made the logo as you did!

Thaks for the win freelancer. To all dudes and dudettes. Just for clarifiaction a butterfly isn't an animal...its an insect, and it was chosen to symbolise freedom of choice (according to aisan culture). The original brief stated that it doesn't HAVE TO be inline with the freelancer logo, not that it SHOULDN'T. My logic was that the new brand SHOULD leverage the sucess of the existing one. Take Virgin for example, Virgin records, virgin money, virgin active, virgin airlines all levergare sucess from the motherbrand using the same visual IP. If you don't trust my brand awareness perhaps you will trust Richard Bransons. Im sure hes wealthier than everyone here. The Tech aspect of the brief was actually the third installed brief...Not the original brief, by which time i had already completed an entire corporate identity. Thanks to all who supported me, you guys are gems. Take care.

no, it's not true. U r wrong Western1979. Look at the brand strategy of Virgin. and find out P&G brand strategy. both are success. but both are using difference brand spectrum. Virgin=Branded House, P&G= House of Brand. in that case, client can desired what is the suitable brand strategy for them. you can sustain uniformity with branded House strategy (as your proposal) but under the House of Brand strategy, u can't. Please get advise from brand manager. in my opinion, I'm also frustrated with this contest. But what to do. It's the level of this kind of freelance jobs. We can not expect a good detail brief. cheers.

Entries like #11030 , #9954, #10882 rejected because they were using animals. But entries like #996 declared as a first runner up. Biased decision. I challenge this contest's authenticity.

To me Luke's Entry (Western1979) was the winner from the very first time i saw it, But frankly as i saw the contest evolve and the briefs changing THREE times, which really questions the authenticity and the potential seriousness of the people behind the contest, I quickly lose faith in Fair judging and a sheer lack of what is called - Unique. I was early out in the contest so its safe to say the Winning entry - Booo. Never expected such crappy decision, There were so many good ones in the Top list.

Be informed that this winning logo will never be used. It was nothing but a cheap publicity stunt. Seriously you guys ":/" Seems very confusing for a market place. Anyway congrats to all the winners and I wish them good luck.

Everyone is eagerly waiting to see this logo set in place at freemarket.com. If the same selected logo wouldn't go online(except for fine tuning - i mean "fine"), this contest is a sham. And interestingly, if it goes online freemarket.com is a farce.
