Contest Brief

Service Sticker Project

We are a garage door company (Rampart Garage Doors) that are looking to have an eye-catching vinyl service sticker designed for us that will be placed in our customer’s garage (likely on the back of their garage door). Size is up to creator, but it needs to be relatively large. Originally thinking of an 8.5” x 11” size in landscape format. Layout, colors, size, etc... are left to the designers discretion.

The purpose of the sticker is to assist the customer in troubleshooting their garage door system in case of an emergency. I have attached a picture of a Water Heater Company that we drew the inspiration from so you can get a better visual representation of what we are ultimately trying to achieve.

We have also included an attached JPEG of a diagram we had made for us to help illustrate the average garage and is to be included on the sticker. This can/should be used as a reference when outlining the items below.

We have broken down the typical garage door issues that are most common into three categories. Within those three main categories, we have listed some causes that could contribute to the issue. Several of these items can be referenced back to the supplied diagram however you deem best. Perhaps a physical line drawn from the line item to the corresponding part or a numbered/lettered reference… The three main issues and their typical underlying causes are listed below. The highlighted letter to the right is for your reference only and goes hand in hand with the document that we have attached (reference diagram) to aid you in knowing where to reference in your design.

Garage Door Won’t Open
• Broken Torsion Spring (A)
• Door isn’t properly balanced
• Motor is struggling to produce enough upwards force (B)
• Failed motor component (B)
• Motor is disengaged from the garage (C)
• No electricity to motor

Garage Door Won’t Close
• Safety Sensors Obstructed or Misaligned (D)
• Door has come off the track
• Cable has come un-spooled from drum (E)
• Motor is struggling to produce enough downwards force (B)
• Motor is disengaged from the garage (C)
• Failed Motor Component (B)
• No electricity to motor

Garage Won’t Respond to Remote or Keypad Controls
• Batteries have failed and require replacement
• Wall Console is in Lock/Vacation Mode (F)
• Remote or Keypad needs to be re-programmed to motor (B)
• Remote or Keypad has failed
• Receiver in Motor has failed
• LED lightbulbs have recently been installed

Feel free to tweak verbiage as needed.

We will also need a placeholder/frame for us to drop a dynamic QR code next to each one of the three main categories. This QR code (once generated) will link back to a VIMEO video that will walk the customer through how to troubleshoot each item listed on the sticker.

Lastly, we need our contact information and branding prominently displayed as well. The goal for us is to have the customer call us if they still can’t figure out what is wrong with their door and/or if they need help with the repairs once they have determined the issue. We have attached our logo. We will include our phone number, email address, website and CA License number once the contest is awarded, so please leave space for those items.

Please also include the following verbiage by our contact information as well;
Locally Family-Owned & Operated
CA Licensed, Insured & Bonded

We have lastly attached a VERY rough hand sketch of an idea we initially had but do not love. We are hoping for a more creative design but have included it to hopefully give you an idea of what we are after if our brief was not clear.
