Contest Brief

Here is what I am looking for:

Request: 3 Book Covers to be Designed.
We can do one at a time but overall, I would expect a quick turnaround (2-3 weeks max) and someone who is very responsive. I would like to have them all keep with the same theme. 1 book is for high school graduates going to college as a freshmen, the other is life skills 101 for young adults and one will bundle them together. I will also then need the same covers completed but in Spanish.

For this project, pick which book you would like to submit an idea for. The requirements are all the same as far as what I am looking for.

Book 1 - Title: Life Skills 101: The Crash Course in Adulting – Because Apparently, You Should Know This By Now
Target Audience:
-Desire to provide a meaningful gift that prepares the young adult for the challenges of adulthood.
-Looking for a unique and thoughtful gift that stands out from traditional presents.
-Want to give a gift that not only celebrates a milestone but also provides lasting value.
-Seeking to convey a sense of support and guidance as their loved one embarks on the journey of adulthood.

What I expect:
- Collaborate with me to understand the vision and message of "Life Skills 101."
- Develop and present multiple cover concepts that reflect the book’s theme and target audience.
- Incorporate feedback to refine designs.
- Ensure the final cover design is both aesthetically pleasing and commercially viable.
- Prepare and deliver the final design in various formats suitable for print and digital use.

Visual Appeal: The cover should be visually striking, with a modern and youthful aesthetic. It should have a balance of color, imagery, and typography that attracts the attention of young adults.

Theme Representation: The design should encapsulate the essence of transitioning into adulthood. Concepts might include imagery or symbols representing growth, journey, independence, or the challenges of adult life.

Typography: The title "Life Skills 101" should be prominent. Font choice should be modern and readable, with a touch of sophistication that appeals to new adults.

Imagery: Images, if used, should be relatable to young adults. Consider inclusive and diverse representations. Abstract or conceptual art can be used to symbolize the journey into adulthood.

Color Scheme: Colors should be contemporary and engaging, avoiding anything too juvenile or overly serious. They should evoke a sense of optimism and growth.

Cover ideas -
One idea I would like to try is a Loading Theme - "Adulting In Progress":

Visual Concept: A prominent, stylized circular loading icon in the center, symbolizing the 'loading' or transition phase into adulthood.
Typography: Below the icon, the text "Adulting In Progress" in a modern, bold font.
Color Scheme: A combination of muted and vibrant colors to represent both the seriousness and the vibrancy of entering adulthood.
Background: A sleek, minimalist background that doesn't detract from the central loading icon.


Back Cover Descriptions:

I'm looking to collaborate with an experienced graphic designer well-versed in creating visually appealing book covers for the non-fiction genre, specifically focused on self-help themes. My aim is to have a cover that can captivate potential readers while clearly conveying the enlightening nature of the content within.

Ideal Skills:
-Excellent graphic design capabilities including image and layout manipulation.
-Proven experience in book cover design, preferably within the self-help genre.
-Incorporating client aesthetics into final product.

By offering a visual representation of the self-help journey within the book, your design will serve as the first point of communication about the book's value to potential readers. I look forward to seeing your innovative ideas!

Book 2: College Bound - Practical Approaches to Navigating Roommate Challenges, Managing Time, and Balancing Academic & Social Life - Your First Step to College Success

Desire to equip the student with knowledge and strategies for a successful college experience.
Looking to provide a gift that is both meaningful and beneficial in a student’s academic and personal life.
Seeking to reassure both themselves and the student that they are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of college.

To show me that you have thoroughly been reading my descriptions, please include a small, stylized 'key' icon somewhere in the design. This key symbolizes unlocking the potential of new adults and should be integrated in a way that is harmonious with the overall design. Its inclusion will indicate that you have read and understood the complete job description.

Aim to show ongoing support and encouragement for the student’s journey into higher education.
"College Bound" is positioned as an ideal gift for adults wishing to support and prepare their high school graduates for the exciting and challenging transition to college life.
