Contest Brief

I’m a science enthusiast with an education background in microbiology and biochemistry. After 7 years of brewing the highest quality craft beverages I have been given the opportunity to open my own brewery. The name of the brewery is Ethos Craft Brewing. Ethos was chosen due to it’s meaning of the importance of individual character and how our individual character’s contribute to making us who we are as a community. The focus of the company will emphasize on ensuring we produce an unparalleled level of quality for our community by applying advanced scientific techniques and practices. Additionally, we will focus heavily on communicating and listening to our customers so we can focus on providing products that they have a passion and preference for, and not just simply follow current industry trends or the purist “beer snob” traditional styles that often have an intensity level of flavor that is intimidating, and not easily approachable to people new to craft beer or have trouble choosing between the enormous amount of style varieties. Lastly, and most importantly, we will always ensure that we are dedicated to being ambassadors of 3 vital core values (that I grew to live my life by during my years in the Air Force) for our customers and community. Those values are: Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. I would like for the design of the logo to include the “Ethos” name with a somewhat minimalistic appearance, but also be relatively easy to recognize that it is related to a craft brewery. We’re geared more towards the Millennial/Gen Z demographic and major bonus points if there’s an element of the overall design that includes any of the following shapes/appearances: Especially love a compound microscope style integration!!! Erlenmeyer flask, yeast shaped cells, related chemical compounds, centrifuge tubes, inoculation loop, Petri dishes, lab beakers, hydrometers, or any laboratory Quality Assurance related aspects. I appreciate all of the effort and creative energy submitted and thank you all so much for being part of our journey here at Ethos Craft Brewing! I’ve included some related design/patterns/equipment that might be able to give you and idea what we have a preference for. Hope it helps!!! Side note: I absolutely do t want a logo that is just simple script. We are adamant on having a level of illustration in reference to the shapes of the objects i mentioned in the post

      I understand your frustration about that. I liked the design a lot. That’s why I rated it highly. However, I have worked with other companies in the industry, and after I had a chance to show a lot of these submissions to my friend in the legal field, some were too close to chance the C&D and expense of rebranding. Again, sorry for the frustration, but, I wanted to give good feedback, but didn’t want waste anyone’s time by keeping it active when I know I couldn’t choose it.

      Too simplistic/cartoonish. Flask is the wrong shape and inaccurate for the application. Erlenmeyer has a flat bottom and logo contains a boiling flask that isn’t used in the industry. Font is so basic that there isn’t a lot of appeal that it would attract the consumer on a shelf
