Introduction
The RED-fern District initiative aims to transform the Redfern area into a 24/7 hub of entertainment, culture, and dining. This document outlines the mission, values, and vision that will guide the project's development and implementation. It serves as a comprehensive guide for all stakeholders involved, including community members, local businesses, and government agencies.

Mission Statement

Vibrant: Create a lively atmosphere through arts, entertainment, and public events that pulsate with life day and night.
Inclusive: Build a beacon of inclusivity where everyone, regardless of background, feels welcome and involved.
Culturally Rich: Celebrate and preserve the diverse cultures that make up Redfern, including its Indigenous heritage.
Historical Celebration: Revitalise historic landmarks and honour Redfern's past while building its future.
Community Engagement: Actively involve local residents, businesses, and organisations in decision-making processes.
Economic Growth: Develop sustainable business models that benefit the local economy and create a thriving, safe, and accessible district.

Project Overview
We are seeking a talented graphic designer to create a unique, memorable logo for the Redfern Entertainment District (RED) initiative. This project aims to transform Redfern into a vibrant, inclusive, and culturally rich 24/7 district. The logo will serve as the visual identity for the initiative and should encapsulate our mission, values, and vision.

Design Requirements
Style: Retro-inspired design
Colours: Earthy tones of warm reds, orange and browns/creams.
Elements: Incorporate lines or shapes that subtly hint at the concept of journey and meeting place, Redfern's well-connected public transport system, and the geographical layout of the streets (Cope St, Regent St, Gibbons St) and the laneway connections between.

Objectives
Reflect Mission and Values: The logo should encapsulate our mission to create a vibrant, inclusive, and culturally rich district. It should also align with our core values of inclusivity, innovation, sustainability, community engagement, and cultural preservation.
Memorability: The logo should be easily recognizable and memorable to ensure that it resonates with a wide audience, including residents, businesses, and government stakeholders.
Versatility: The logo should be versatile enough to be used in various formats, including digital, print, and merchandise.

Design Inspirations
Lines: Subtle use of lines or pathways in the design could symbolize Redfern's history as a meeting place and it’s journey to Redfern today - we want to emphasise it’s connectivity through its public transport system, it’s geographical layout, and the sense of continuing history. Think similar to a transport map but cooler. Another possible idea is using the palm lines on an open hand.
Retro Elements: Think 70s and 80s aesthetics, but modernised. This could include vintage typography or retro colour gradients.
Earthy Tones: We’d love a signature colour red to use, that stands out in the design, but is a shade that isn’t jarring or unwelcoming. Consider using shades that evoke a sense of earthiness and connection.
Our taglines are “Rediscover Redfern” and “Meet You In Redfern”.
