Contest Brief

Fast growing Washington state distillery looking to redesign product labels.

Our product line currently includes Vodkas (we have 3 distinct products), Gins (we have 2), Brandies (we have 3), and Whisky. We are also doing some adjacent liquor products, so the final designs needs to be flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of products, and maintain overall brand look and feel.

So we can get a feel for how the labels will look across our product lines, the designs submitted should include or be easily adapted to work for at least (2) vodka (one is distilled from wheat, one coffee flavored), (2) gin (one is a London dry, the other is barrel aged/finished), (2) brandy (one is distilled from cherries, one from cranberries), and (1) whisky.

The designs need to be bold, yet classy and communicate a little about our premium quality brand. The overall scheme needs to work for liquors that range from clear to tan to dark brown or even red. We have a yellow logo that we'd like to stick with, but how it's used and the rest of the design is open (we will likely need take the design and slightly modify to suit regulatory requirements as needed, current version of our Barrel Finished Gin is attached as an example to show typical label content). The labels need to be something that gets customers to pick up our bottles and try them (or have them sitting on their bars or shelves); the quality of the products will do the rest. The label design can be a completely new concept and doesn't need to be the traditional format we are using/attached (e.g., may include multiple parts, require silk-screening, have added features like ribbon over top of cork instead of current shrink wrap, etc.).

All of our products are farm to bottle, meaning we buy from local, sustainable farms and take the ingredients all the way through distillation to bottling. We also use solar power to heat our stills. Here is a little blurb about the company.

Update... Leaning much more toward the very minimalistic designs (e.g., think high-end bottled water), likely silk screened on to bottle (2 to 3 colors, max... generally thinking white and yellow, and possible black), to give the clean, no waste feeling. Focus on a bold statement or two about the product/company, and prominent Solar Spirits logo.
