using these components:
Trinket 5v Microcontroller - [login to view URL]
Neopixel (28 LEDs) - [login to view URL]
Flora accelerometer - [login to view URL]
5v LiPo voltage booster- [login to view URL]
2500mAh LiPo battery- [login to view URL]
I would like to create a small, hand-held, motion-activated, battery and USB powered ball of light.
In short:
Shaking the light once will turn it on to about 75% brightness for 15 min, after which it will slowly turn off, UNLESS shaken again BEFORE the LEDs turn completely off.
A 2nd shake during the primary 15min window will increase brightness to 95% for a new (secondary) 15min, at the end of which, the light will fade back down to 75% for 5m , then fade to off, UNLESS a 3rd shake occurs.
If a 3rd shake occurs during the 95% brightness window, the light will immediately begin to fade completely off.
More detail:
If the LEDs are off, and vigorous motion for at least 1 sec but no more than 2 sec occurs, the LEDs should, over a 2 sec period, gradually increase in brightness to about 75% of max, at between 2900k (two thousand, nine hundred degrees Kelvin) and 3200k (three thousand, two hundred degrees Kelvin) "warm" white light, and remain lit for 14.8 min, whereupon the LEDs will begin to fade in unison at a regular rate over 12 sec until completely off, UNLESS a 2nd shaking occurs BEFORE the LEDs turn completely off.
If a second shake (at least 1 sec, no more than 2 sec) occurs after the initial window of activating motion ends, and during the primary 15min/75% light phase, the LEDs will increase in brightness to 95% of max (same color temp.) and remain lit for a new 14.8min cycle, whereupon the LEDs will fade back down to 75% and remain lit for a new (tertiary) 5min cycle.
If the tertiary 5min cycle ends without shaking, the LEDS will gradually fade completely off.
If, after the 2nd activating motion, and during the 15min/95% brightness cycle, a 3rd shake occurs with a 2sec window, the LEDs with begin to fade at a regular rate over 3sec until completely off.
Additionally, the assembly of this hardware will be inserted into a translucent ball, and some (paid) advice re: wiring instructions will be requested.
