Custom Joomla Module - Article menu hover displays snippet.

Hi. I'm looking for a custom Joomla module(s) that will display a scrollable (fixed height) list of articles in a centered module and as you hover over one of the menu items it displays a custom mini snippet of the article, with an image, to a module that floats to the right of the screen. Then if you click on the article from the list it will take you to that article's page. It is best / easiest described in the photo attached.
I'm guessing the best way would be to use AJAX? The article list in the middle would be best if it could auto-scroll since it has a fixed height, but also have an up and down button to navigate through the list faster.
