Joseph Ran TOO Fast!
Joseph David seemed like a normal 10 year old. You see, on pretty days after school, Joseph liked to practice Parkour, a training using discipline and complex movements, flips, rolling, swinging and many other complex movements to advance through the obstacles in his back yard. He crossed the monkey bars and did flips off the ramp on his fort. Sometimes he would climb to the top post and stand on one foot with his hands in the air above his head. It was just after spring break on a Monday, it was raining hard, when Joseph and his little brother Benjamin got home from school. Joseph wanted to go outside to play but it was way too wet. Joseph’s dad has a treadmill that he walks on daily to get exercise, with a TV on the wall he can watch while he walks. Joseph asked his dad if he could run on the treadmill. Joseph’s dad said yes, as long as he attached the safety shut off clip to his shirt. Joseph attached the safety clip to his shirt and began to run. Joseph was a good runner. He often race on foot against his little brother on his motorcycle. Joseph was running fast on the treadmill and was continuing to increase his speed. Just then something began to happen. Something was changing. It seemed as if time itself was being distorted. The room was changing. All at once Joseph was not at home. He was at a different place, a place he recognized. It looked like the T-Shirt and hat stand in the large theme park he and his family had been on vacation the year before. Joseph and his brother both had gotten custom hats here. Yes, this was the place, but different. Everything was newer, more modern, cutting edge technology. There was even a super awesome robot doing the painting instead of the man that had been there before. The robot could spin around and paint several projects at one time. All of his fingers were different color sprat tips. Each finger could spin around and change spray size and pattern while all the others were continuing to paint. He was way faster than the man. It was epic. The robot looked at Joseph as if he could read his mind, and just that quick handed Joseph a completed custom hat more awesome than he had ever seen. The robot produced a mirror for Joseph to see how the hat looked on him. Joseph looked in the mirror. The hat was awesome, but there was something even more fascinating. Joseph now had a full mustache, and he looked older. How could this be? He was only 10. But now he looked 25. As Joseph was staring at his mustache, a buzzer sounded. It was the timer on the treadmill. Joseph had reached the goal he had set. Somehow he was back at home and everything was back to normal. Joseph was trying to figure out if maybe he had just daydreamed about the robot and the hat stand. The TV was on and there was a show on about robots. Just then Joseph’s dad said good run. Where did you get that cool hat?
