Card Template For An Online Trading Card Game
We are looking for a talented graphic designer to come up with a card template for our online trading card game, Soulforge: Origins. We want our cards to use a minimalist, full-art style design. Instead of having borders, the card art will extend all the way to the edges of the card. We will, however, overlay a frame on top of the card which will surround the nameplate, card text, and other elements of the card as seen in the attached example.
There are 7 different types of cards in Soulforge: Origins, those being as follows:
-Unit
-Equipment
-Monolith
-Trap
-Miracle
-Terrain
-Artifact
Each card's frame overlay should be unique, as the frame will be used to differentiate between the different types of cards.
All cards will need to capture the following information:
-Card Name (Text)
-Card Description (Text)
-Card Type (Represented only by the card's frame overlay)
-Card Element (An icon)
Unit cards will need to capture this additional information:
-Attack value
- Life Value
- Subtype (Melee, Ranged, or Mage? This could be an icon)
-Class (Spellcaster, Warrior, Guardian, etc.)
-Race (Humanoid, Golem, Demon, etc.)
-Cost to Play (In summoning tokens)
Monolith cards will need the following:
-Attack
-Life
Trap cards will need the following:
-Attack
-Life
Miracle cards will need the following:
-Cost to play (in mana)
Terrain cards will need the following:
-Attack
-Life
-Layout (A grid showing which Zones the terrain occupies. Examples include 3 squares vertical, 3 squares horizontal, etc. A 3x3 grid should be enough to cover all possible terrain layouts, with the occupational squares highlighted in red and non-occupational squares in gray)
Artifacts will need the following:
-Attack
-Life
We would like all attack and life values to be represented at the bottom of the card in a half-hexagon style border, as seen in the example images. Summoning token cost (for units) and mana cost (for miracles) should be represented in the top right of the card using a hexagonal design, summoning tokens using a shade of orange or yellow/gold and mana costs using a shade of blue. The card nameplate should be centered at the top of the card, a part of the frame overlay that surrounds the other information.
In addition to the card template, we also need fixes to be made to the game's logo. The main text in the logo should say "Soulforge Origins", but currently the text is unreadable. The brown bar at the bottom of the logo needs to be removed, and the text at the top center should be fixed to say "Soulforge". Please note that we only have the .jpg of our logo and cannot provide you with SVG, PSD, or other formats.
We have included the following attachments.
1: soulforge_logo.jpg. This is the current version of our game logo which needs to be fixed.
2: [login to view URL] This showcases the lightweight "frame" we would like to have around our cards, and is the closest image to our desired product. Do not copy the design of this frame exactly, only use it as inspiration for your finished product.
3: [login to view URL] This card does not use the full-art design that we are looking for, but the attack and life values on the side are displayed in a manner that is close to our desired product. Note that we would like our life and attack values to be on the bottom of the card.
4: [login to view URL] This card shows an example of the Summoning Token cost for a unit in the top righthand corner.
The project will be considered complete when we have the following:
-A card template for each of the 7 types of cards in Soulforge: Origins, including cardbacks
-A fixed game logo with readable text
All deliverables should be provided as .SVG files. The end goal is to provide templates that we can easily place over top of our card art when adding new cards to the game. We have included some sample card art in the attachments.
