Fix Email Encoding in PHP Formmailer (German Umlauts)

I have a php quiz software that asks the visitor questions on the website and then sends him an analysis via email.

AFAIK the email is sent in 2 parts... html and text. The HTML looks fine. But the text version misses some line breaks and shows umlauts in their HTML code (ü etc.).

The error probably lies in one of two files:

- the [url removed, login to view] (which generates the analysis) and/or

- the [url removed, login to view] library (which sends out the email over smtp)

You'll get access to the quiz and, if you like, live FTP access to the php files. You can then tweak the thing using a disposable email service, such as incognitomail.com.

- the PHP files,

- a text file how the emails look now and

- a text file how the emails SHOULD look like.

The latter file includes these rules:

Issue 1.

"(E-Mail Intro)" should be enclosed by 1 empty line above and below.

Issue 2.

"Frage 1:"/"Frage 2:" etc.

- should always have 1 empty line above.

- should be CAPITALIZED

- the line should be followed by a carriage return

Issue 3.

"Deine Antwort:"

- should not have an empty line above, but only a carriage return

- should be CAPITALIZED

- the line should be followed by two carriage returns (= one empty line)

Issue 4.

Umlauts:

should appear in the email as ä/ö/ü/p instead of their HTML coding.

Please give me a short explaination what you changed to achieve these results or annotate the code you change, using "@Ali" as marker (so I can search for it) and the name of the issue (issue 1, 2, 3 and 4 from above) like this:
