Need my Wordpress blog to connect to my database - currently the posts are not showing up on the site

I have a Wordpress blog that was running perfectly OK for a long time. Then, last week I noticed when I logged in to my blog, the site title at the top of the browser changed from the site name to something unreadable (a bunch of incoherent letters).

Then a a few days later, when I typed the site's address, intsqad of getting the site to show up, I got a Wordpress install screen, which obviously did not make any sense. Now I am getting the site to show up, but the site is not showing any of the posts (its showing Hello World!), as if its new blog without any posts.

Its a problem whereby the blog has no connection with the database because the database has all the posts.

I require a connection between the blog and the database.
