Wordpress theme customization

Hi everybody, I have a template that I'd like to modify accordingly to my needs; basically there will be advertising banners on the side and one leader banner at the top.
This customization is only for the homepage, but I will need to be able to change the banners inside the admin panel.
I have attached 2 pictures, one with the current homepage, and the second with what we want to achieve, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
