Directories are not showing unless you have the index extension after them

I need help with my server for my website. The issue I have is when you type in [login to view URL] in the address bar it goes automatically goes to [login to view URL] and if I used [login to view URL] it would be an error. Instead I have to type [login to view URL] for the website to show. I would like my directories to show the index without having to manually type in index every time, thanks.
