R programmer required

I require certain tasks to be completed in R for a project I am working on, but am still quite new to R. The input files will be 2/3 large csv files.
The tasks could be described as follows (assuming 2 input files, A & B):
- taking a variable name in the input csv/dataframe 'A' and searching for it in csv/dataframe 'B'
- Once found in 'B', then extract related metrics for that variable. For example, what it's average value was over a pre- and post-5-week-period.
- Present those findings for each variable over a large list of variables. - - The aim being to assess if the average value of that variable increased or decreased in value, based on the averages calculated.
