Fix small issues with Outlook plugin

I have an outlook plugin that I created with Add-In Express ([url removed, login to view]). The plugin looks for keywords, and then adds a double underline to them.
There are two issues.
1. When the user is typing, it is possible that a keypress comes in while the formatting function is being called. When this is the case, the selected section (am selecting with a range in order to format the words) can be overwritten by the incoming keyboard. To fix this, I hooked the keyboard and use a flag to know when a keypress cannot be processed. Any keypresses that cannot be processed are placed into a queue. Once the text has been formatted, the queued keys should be sent to the app window. I can't seem to figure out how to do this.
2. There are visual artifacts during the formatting of the text. For instance, if a user has a keyword that was found, you can see a flicker when the text is highlighted and the style changed. I need to format the text without highlighting. Actually fixing this would fix problem 1 since there would be no highlighting, so this might be the best place to start.
