I have an old (2007) Arcade cabinet which was sold under the name of...hard drive for the PC were ROM's for about 10,000 games. The PC was running Windows 98. I have a project based around an 8051 microcontroller that I want to patch/edit the firmware for. I do not have the source code. It is an old piece of equipment from the 80s that I want to extend the capabilities of. The unit is an old drum machine which had its firmware stored on a 27c256 eprom. and also had 2 x 27c040 mask roms for its sound samples. The firmware contains a table which holds the sample start addresses and sample names (which are displayed on an LCD screen) I am currently able to patch the firmware to change the names and sample start points, however the table is in the middle of the code and so I am unable to extend the table to allow for anything more than the original 47 sounds this machine was capable of storing.
