Newbies welcome. Paper 1: Plato’s Republic – Re-Write & Final Draft A. In your first draft of this assignment, you answered the following questions: 1. How is the design of the City (Kallipolis) supposed to ensure that all citizens make their best possible contributions to the city? Discuss at least two of the elements that are supposed to get citizens to contribute in this way. 2. Why does Plato think that by ensuring that individuals make their best possible contributions, the Kallipolis will be just? You will bring 2 copies of this draft to class on Friday, February 19. In response to my feedback, the feedback of your workshop partner, and any conversation you have with me, re-work your first draft to be sure you are answering these two questions clearly and with good support from the text. B. Then, you should answer the following questions: 1. Do you think that a just city (or nation) should enable individuals to fully develop to the best of their abilities? Why or why not?
 2. Do you think Plato’s system of justice city really does enable that kind of development? Why or why not? If not, explain exactly where you think Plato’s reasoning goes wrong. 3. Finally, do you think the Kallipolis would be just? Be sure to discuss: a. Plato’s conception of justice, and why he thinks the Kallipolis is just; b. Your conception of social justice, and whether it is neglected in the Kallipolis. Your paper should be 5-7 pages, and is due on Monday, March 1, in hard copy; you will need to attach your first draft (with my comments) to the final draft, so do not throw it away. $10 fixed + 5 start rating + good review
