Hi, I am expert developer with years of experience in various areas including legacy DOS applications. Earlier I've made a tool specifically for DOS applications to handle printing (to new USB printers) from legacy applications and code. I believe something similar could be done for scanners, few questions, can you tell me do you have access to existing application code, can you change something in it, if so solution wouldn't require building new application, just a wrapper around new USB scannners that sends images to legacy application.

The first think I will do is study your code and make some tests (in any other programming language) to decide in which programming language do the final job. If you want to make something able to run in several Op Systems(Windows, Linux), java or python will be a good solution. I have experience making plugin based systems in python, i.e. you have a base system, then by adding plugins you can make your system integrate with another systems like custom hardware or other software like for example Odoo. My propose: 1.- Translate your Program to C# or Python 2.- Save the tests into a DB 3.- If you choose python I could make a basic plugin system that allow you use the same base program in different scenarios and products.
