Dry Contact Pulse Input To Precision Analog Voltage Output

I need a low BOM count/cost circuit design to accept a dry contact pulse from a sensor and step up the voltage at each pulse until reaching 5V and then reset to 0. The output voltage needs to be precise to around 0.1-0.2V and repeatable each cycle. The output voltage needs to be read by a separate device that has an ADC input. I would prefer to use a PIC if a micro controller is used.

I could do this with a counter and comparator that receives the pulse on the counter input and drives a parallel DAC with the count. A comparator to 5V would reset it, but id dV/dcount is constant, just resetting the counter works since it is known when it hits 5V. A PIV (e.g. dsPIC33F) has an ADC and can input the voltage. I am not sure what you then want to do with it, but I have serial to FTDI, CAN, SPI, or I2C options on the PIC I usually choose. At $250, this would not include purchased parts and only minimal firmware.

Hi, Can you please clarify the input section and complete project requirement. We have already done similar projects Pulse to voltage converters for industrial applications. Small microcontroller boards with the debugging+programmer option, 12bit ADC, all for around 10$. About us: Micro-controllers we have worked on PIC, STM32, PSOC and AVR. Development kits and instruments available for testing purpose. For PCB designs we use KICAD. C#, LABVIEW, Python for GUI, Controlling or Datalogging purpose. Thanks and Regards, Santosh

Hello! I think they may be PICs both. However your task description reveals many questions, so I am ready to discuss it, if you'll be interested in my participation. Regards, Mikhailo Kudin

Hi! If another MCU family (AVR, STM) and Altium Designer would be fine for you - i'll be glad to handle your project.
