Code Name: Puerto Book

The idea is to create an exclusive social network (similar to facebook) that is catered specifically for people living in Puerto Rico. This project would be started from scratch. Basic Requirements: -Must speak & write Spanish fluently -Must speak & write English to a moderate level; fluent is preferred. -Must have some experience with Puerto Rican culture. A letter written to a developer/designer describing the website: An equivalent to Facebook but for people living in Puerto Rico. The sign up would be exclusive to Puerto Rican IP's. The main goal for the website is to connect to the Puerto Rican consumer's social life as Puerto Ricans far more than websites like facebook or myspace but on a local level. The consumer must feel connected to the Puerto Rican social life at all times and offer more social interaction with the social life of Puerto Rico than Facebook or other foreign social networks. Another goal is to leave no person left out or alienated from the people living in Puerto Rico. So we're obviously also wanting to keep it casual to appeal to the age 40 market that might be more reserved and simply wanting to reconnect with friends and family. The website must be designed with the people of Puerto Rico completely in mind, the site must conform around and within them. Now to speak about the design, I'm looking for something modern, simple, and clean; some color here and there but mostly a clean look. Flash is good, but there's no need to over do it. Some customization for users is also good but nothing too over the top. Themes or too many things users might add that slow down their pages can be very unappealing to the older market and in general to all consumers. Apps and other small programs or 'gimmicks' that increase the sociability of users is definitely a plus. For example: X person wants to know what events Y person will be going to. X person has the ability to compare 'social event calenders' on a page or something of the sort and Y person will get a notification from X person that they will be going to Z event.
