Hello there! I saw this pitch and absolutely had to submit a proposal. I've worked with writers a lot in the past, whether it be characters, book covers, or even just regular images for webserials. My wife is a writer as well- we work closely on comics and such.
Anyway, I read the story, and I like where it's going! Randall reminds me so much of me- I tend to mull over things I've done wrong and have those 'eternal regrets' that define who I am.
A few ideas:
- A character based piece could look like Randall on the boat, we see his back, his white hair showing but mostly silhouetted (so it becomes less about what he looks like) and his line straight in the water. In the background, which will take up most of the piece, we should a gorgeous sunset, and in the clouds we see a memory (maybe of Prudence?)
- If we wanted more focus on what's beneath the surface, we could put the surface of the water on a diagonal, so that it shows more action. We could focus on the moment when he's trying to tire out the fish, where there's a lot of movement in the water, but we don't show what exactly the fish is. We could even not shoe his face, so it becomes about the movement of the water, very rendered out.
I'd love to chat about more ideas, feel free to message me.
Cost would be $100 each, and it will take about 1.5 weeks to complete. For the test image, I'd go with $50, as it may not be used. You can look at my portfolio page, style-wise I was thinking like the Superheroine image.
