Once a hacker gain access to your server once, he have unlimited number of methods to maintain his control over this server. two methods to fix this problem: 1. scan for viruses, scan for rootkits, check all configurations of all services, check system users, .... 2. backup your file, reinstall the system, scan the files then bring it back. I use the second approach because it tends to be more effective.

Hello, i would like to secure this server. Mostly, server get hacked over insecure scripts so my question: do you have a webserver + php running? If so, it will be a good idea to install a web application firewall to protect your scripts against getting exploited. I would recommend nginx + naxsi or mod_security for this. Once a server is backdoored, its mostly difficult to clean it completely. I've been administering complex web application setups for manu years and got solid linux background. There is not that much information about infrastructure. There are many possible vectors of attack and without at least some basic log review etc. it is hard to exactly estimate amount of work required etc. I suspect a longer monitoring of the solution bmay be required to pinpoint the exact root vulnerability, hence 10 days delivery estimation.
