Script to backup mysql db

Hello. You have a quite restricted environment. Wouldn't you consider migrating to a hosting that gives you shell access? I mean, my current bid pays a full year of shared hosting on a company that gives shell access. I think that would be the perfect solution. The you can set up cron jobs to make backups at several times. But, if you're willing to follow this path, the solution would be to have a PHP script able to connect to both DBs and "manually" update the slave with master's data. I'll have to review DB schema in order to better assess if it's doable under my current quote. But I'd like to discuss with you my first solution. Please consider it.

Hello, one solution to your problem is to create a php script which takes backup of master db and import to slave db and this will be done through cron job so we will set the cron job time of 5 minutes so after every 5 minutes this script will run.

Dear sir, Please consider an IT student with background in documenting MySQL commands for a web coding book. Basically there are two approaches, binary logging or GTIDs, but this should be discussed with you, depending on the version of your MySQL server and various other aspects. For example, you're not mentioning whether the slave will be used as an emergency backup, or to actually serve true-time queries. I admit I haven't actually implemented it before, but I'm pretty sure, that replication commands (actually queries) can be issued to the MySQL servers either through the phpMyAdmin interface, or through calling a respective php script from a browser. If you give me the chance, I can research it for you. Thank you

You must run a cron job (or at least u can call a php file from your website homepage if your site is really visited). On master website, this web page dump your mysql database and send adumped file to a specific script on slave who restore on mysql.

Hi! My approach is to develop the web service at master side and web client at slave. Client will send request and service will respond with data, then client will update slave db to move it to active state. Both will be developed with php. With best regards, Ihor.

Hi, I think you could set the second shared hosting which the database connection link to the first database. In the second database, we could set it to backup from the first database within 24 hours or 12 hours everyday. How about you think? I'll waiting your response. Thanks and Regards, Suwandy
