We need an Android app developed for use by our internal employees only- This app will not be published in the Android Market.
The Android App (client) will communicate via sockets to a server running that is running on a Windows Server 2008 which is running in a WAMP environment (APACHE, MySQL, PHP).
The client App is "bidding application" that will be used by a our auction bidders that are attending live auction events, to transmit live bidding increments to our servers as they occur. On the server side, we need some form of daemon to run that receives the sockets posts from the Android App, post the packets to a MySQL, runs a routine in order to determine whether the server should respond with a bid/no-bid message the android phone app.
The entire solution is currently operational in a production using a PHP/AJAX environment, however, high latency issues are requiring us to move to a socket environment. Reducing latency is key.
It would be preferable if the server solution was written in PHP (running as a daemon), but other solutions like a VB.NET, C# solution will be fine as well as long as the solution includes a full source code, and compiled executable as well.
