I want to build a simple stand-alone program to view, add to, edit and delete from an external database. The program must be written in vb.net and the database is in Access. The code must be object-oriented and flexible enough to be expanded (scaleable) and changed in the future as needs grow. Ultimately, this program will be web-based. I have already created an Access db with tables and fields listed below. These tables have various types of relationships including 1-to-1 and many-to-many, etc but I have NOT connected them.
ACCESS TABLES (fields):
1. Contacts (ID#, LastName, FirstName, MiddleName, Salutation, BirthDate)
2. Companies/Organizations (ID#, Name)
3. Telephone & Fax Numbers (Number, Type)
4. Email Addresses (EmailAddress)
5. Addresses (ID#, BuildingName, Street, Unit/Floor, POBox, City, Province, PostalCode, Country)
6. Notes (ID#, Date, Notes)
7. Communications (ID#, Type)
8. Tasks (ID#, DueDate, Action)
9. Projects (ID#, DueDate, Name)
10. Mandates (ID#, Name)
11. Cash Flows (ID#, Name, Priority, Amount, GrowthRate, StartDate, End Date, Duration, Repetitions, TimeBtwReps)
12. Accounts (Acc#, Name, Balance, Type) - info may come from another data source
All ID# are unique within but not necessarily between tables
RELATIONSHIPS:
Contacts have m2m relationships with all except Cash Flows. E.g. a person can have many ph#s/addresses/etc and a ph#/address/etc. can belong to many different people.
Comp/Orgs same as Contacts.
Mandates have 1TOm with Contacts, Cos/Orgs, Cash Flows, Accounts
When there are m2m relationships (i.e. people and ph#s), the context may change with different relationships. E.g. Bob Smith uses 416-555-1212 as his home ph# while Mary Smith uses it as her office #. I want to be able to establish these links in the Windows program.
