Community College Research Project
1. Goals
a. Find the Top 50 fastest growing Community Colleges (“CC”) in the USA (Preferably with a trade school division/curriculum as part of CC).
b. Also include what Community Colleges have become four year universities in the past five years and or have put in an application to become four year universities. This should not be too large of a number (but maybe it is).
c. Good resource:
i. [login to view URL]
o The above website makes this easy. You can also call them and they can run data queries for you.
2. Output
a. Excel spread sheet:
i. School name.
ii. Address.
iii. Number of students (ideally over 10,000).
iv. Do they have on campus housing?
o How many apartment units or number of beds?
o How much do they charge?
v. Do any schools have someone who manages student life - if so, it would be great because they can tell you about the off campus market. We look more favorably on schools that have an off campus market that is vibrant, rather than us having to create it.
vi. Do they a strong Athletic Program?
vii. Do they have International Students?
o If so about how many?
viii. What is their Growth Plan (i.e. adding student, classrooms, etc)?
ix. We'd like to purchase any caliber of apartment (Class C to A).
o Looking for larger apartment complexes (80 plus units).
o Within 8 blocks of campus.
x. What does tuition cost?
xi. Footnote all sources.
b. Create word document:
i. Cover page.
ii. Table of contents.
iii. Executive summary (1 page max).
iv. Recommend the top 20 schools (out of the 50) and locate and highlight apartments to buy within an 8 block radius.
o Use one page snapshot for your “top 20” (high-level school stats and apartment stats -- then below create a map showing the apartments in relation to the school).
o Include why and how you ranked the top 20.
v. Footnote all sources.
