What is Ailing Our Tourism

India is known for its rich flora and fauna, beautiful landscape, glorious past, and varied caltiral trends. All this makes India a major attraction for tourism. However, the reality is far from this. Tourism in India has been constantly suffering setbacks due to its inefficient tourism industry. Bad and filthy roads, rickety buses, overpriced taxis, delayed traines-all make travelling a nightmare in India. Moreover, the absence of decent and hygienic accomodation at a reasonable cost, adds, to the distress of tourism visiting India. Besides, the growing menace of tourism is a huge deterrent for tourism. The government of India needs to put concerted efforts in place to revamp tourism in the country. Utmost emphasis should be placed on infrastructure development and beefing up the security. Such efforts will certainly make India a leader in the world of tourism. We have the Taj, we have the Tiger, we are at once ancient and modern, we have taught the world religion, maths and peace. We are the world's largest democracy and the second most populous country. Yet in tourism we rank only fifth in the world. Counters like Australia, Newzealand,and Brazil are more preferred destinations. Why? What is Ailing tourism? Why do we have peaks and valleys in tourism influx and income, one tourism season after another? Well, we don't have to go far to seek them. Look at the stink our country is. We are perhaps the stench, the tourism are put off by red-tapism, corruption and insecurity. If foreign are to be raped or assaulted, fleeced or looted or even murdered, who would risk coming to India? Beggars, transport troubles, drugs, under development tourist facilities knock the life out of the 'tourism paradise' our country is, according to the tourist pundits. Who would like to travel to India to taste it's crime and grime along with its curry and spices, who would like to return home with memenots of shame and disappointed? If India is to region it's place in world tourism,we will have to make a reality check and immediately purge the industry of all its. It is true we need the foreign exchange, but we need international tourists smiles and satisfaction too to sustain overselves as a world's tourist destination. We have to improve our tourist infrastructure and facilities too. Monuments must be saved from denigration thought Graffiti, garbage and inscription. Our holy places need to be spruced up. And most Importantly we must tap the vast potential of domestic tourism, too.
