Project:
Mobile Streaming Radio Service.
Summary:
Our company has a Mobile Java player already, and we are looking for a Windows Mobile version.
It is a mobile phone application that users can download to their phone and listen to streaming music/internet radio. Stations are predefined in a text file (on our servers). Administrator can add and remove stations on an ongoing basis. Application checks and updates the station list each time it is launched.
Target market:
All windos mobile versions. (WM5 WM6 WM2003, both Pocket PC and Smartphone)
User Experience:
User downloads and installs application to the phone. At launch, the application loads up current playlist/station list.
If the user does not have a subscription, they can only listen to the free station list (two stations)
If they do have a subscription, they can Log IN. The software checks our database for their username/pw and makes sure it is active. The user can then navigate through the categories and select a station. They click on a station and it plays in the application's media player. Basic audio experience can be included such as volume, stop and play, etc...
Administration:
I would like the ability to easily add and remove radio station streams on my end so that the mobile software is updated everytime the user launches it.
Issues to overcome:
I want to be sure that the application can easily play mp3, aac, windows media streams since there is a wide variety of those stations out there.
Similar projects out there:
You can take a look at a similar project called Mundu Radio in India ([login to view URL]). They target only Windows Mobile, Symbian and Palm but have an easy application that looks and works well. Or Resco Pocket Radio (WM application, [login to view URL])
Our Current Software:
Please feel free to download our J2ME version to test and see what the user experience should be like.
