Dear Natalie and Nick:
Thank you for considering my application to work with you on the latest book in The Nilimbia Chronicles series. As a fellow writer who is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; who has edited two books, including The Banana Tree Crisis by Isankya Kodithuwakku, which won Sri Lanka's State Literary and Gratiaen prizes; and who reads submissions for Ninth Letter, a literary magazine for which I will serve as assistant poetry editor in Spring 2017, I believe I am especially well equipped to help make your project successful.
Moreover, having read your synopsis and first chapter, I am certain that we share a passion for the fantasy genre. I love fairy and folk tales—from King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table to Chinese fables—and grew up reading multiple versions of One Thousand and One Nights. Furthermore, as an MFA student, college rhetoric instructor, and proofreader for the National Council of Teachers of English, I have a keen eye for stylistic elements, tone, and audience. In short, I cannot imagine a better match than working with the two of you.
Since my university is on break, my schedule is flexible. Although I imagine that this process would take approximately two weeks, my goal would be to work within the time line that you have in mind.
Thank you again. Please feel free to contact me through this site to discuss how I can best serve you.
Best regards,
Annah
