Greetings, I am experienced in matlab, and have conducted Similar studies that deals with transient thermal analysis of metal hydride hydrogen absorption, It used finite volume method, Darcy laws for fluid velocity (porous media), central difference scheme for discritization and TDMA method for solving the algebraic equations. Your problems seems similar with heat source term from solar radiations, is your problem 2d or 3d? Since I don't have much experience in creating 3d structured grid for complex geometries. If it is a 3d box then its fine. I can perform grid independence test as well. If you need any other numerical method, like upwind or QUICK, I can do that. I Prefer SIMPLE scheme for pressure velocity coupling ( Since you told that matrices is of huge dimensions) But can write code for Coupled or any other if you wish.
