1. Select an example of where your attempt to communicate with someone from a different cultural background has been either successful or unsuccessful. It could be someone from a different ethnic background, a different age group, a different subculture or any other recognised cultural grouping.
2. Select one of the theories discussed (i.e. Identity Management theory or Identity Negotiation theory) and use it to explain what happened. The better your demonstrated understanding of the theory, the higher your grade is likely to be.
3. Present this in fully referenced academic essay form. You may include additional readings on the theory you’ve selected if you want, but are not required to do so.
