Visual artists, writers, designers, and revisers wanted for the first 2 issues of Toxic! The Magazine: Toxic is a free online magazine that explores the limits of imagination. Each issue covers a quirky and fascinating theme. The first one is Cosmos Saga, where we go deep into the most fascinating aspects of the universe. The second issue, Lurid Mind, is an inward journey that brings the most intriguing, astonishing and, sometimes, dark aspects of the mind. How we work: We are a cooperative. Contributors get: full credit for their work, keep their copyright (which means you can do anything with your work published by us, including publishing it somewhere else), a full profile in the magazine (a great way to get commissioned work), and a share in the profits. (see details under Commission). Type of work we are looking for: YES Imaginative, unusual and, especially for writers, engaging works. We want people to be elated by our magazine. Short graphic novels (up to 5 pages) and works that combine visual and written content are particularly welcome. NOT REALLY Academic articles, personal interpretations of quantum mechanics, relativity, etc… poems, and extracts of novels. Designers – one for each issue Submission guidelines: You can submit as many works as you want. Writers: Objective, engaging, well-written and accessible texts of any genre (apart from academic articles, personal interpretations of quantum mechanics, relativity, etc… poems, and extracts of novels). Ideally around 1,000 words. No more than 1,500 words. Yes, it is short. Please post it in a private blog beforehand to ensure your copyright over the text. Visual/Graphic artists - anything astonishing. Let your imagination run free. Please make sure to: include your name next to a copyright symbol © on the bottom of the image. submit a small resolution image (up to 1 or 2 Mb) but have a high quality copy at hand in case your work is selected. Designers – send your CV and/or some work you have done. Revisers – CV or a brief note stating your experience, interest and the amount of text you can check (at least 2,000 words). DEADLINE Please try to send your work before the 20th of Feb. We will consider works submitted after the date but they will probably appear in latter issues. Commissions: We have a fixed expense of U$ 2,000 per issue. That includes operational (website creation/maintenance, lawyer, hosting) and long term costs (marketing, fundraising, management). Everything we get above this limit is profit. All the collaborators will share the profit up to a limit of U$ 4,000 (anything above it will be used in the next issue).
