This is an illustration for a blog about co-occuring addiction and mental health issues. This illustration sits somewhere between gothic, fantasy, and graphic novel. The main image is of an adult male who is being consumed by 3 serpents that are growing from his stomach, just beneath his ribcage. Although the 3 serpents are clearly distinct and separate, it’s clear at the point they emerge from his body that they emanate from one thick core, so it’s a snake with three heads rather than being 3 separate snakes. And of course, as they are growing from him, they are actually all a part of him. One of the snakes is entwined and wrapped around his legs, so he cannot walk. The next has slithered across his chest, and appears to be whispering in his ear. On the other side, the third has its jaw open and seems to be lunging at his neck. We do not see his face, either it’s turned away or in shadow - however we can tell from his jaw line, or his expression, that he is fearful. His hands seem to be tearing at the source of the snake, desperately trying to pull it out. The setting can be up to the illustrator - but should convey decay. Whether it’s forest decay or urban decay.
