I passed JLPT 2nd level years ago, I am currently working part time for a Japanese dealer (main task: translating the communications to/from Japanese and English), and I have managed so far 176,000 kanji. I am very meticulous, available 7/7 all year long, and I pay much attention to every aspect of a text, i.e. not only grammar, spelling and punctuation, but also its register and communicative goals.
