Utility to purge MS SQL Log File

Hi I have been working with MSSQL for over 14 years. I am fully experienced as a developer and a DBA. Currently I am working at big financial organization in which I am responsible for the BI department. I have designed and the Developed the Organization’s Reporting Database which has been constructed with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. The database is being updated daily from the core system with txt or excel files via SSIS or with direct connection at mainframe’s DB2 and a numerous of KPIS are being daily updated during the ETL. For isolation reasons the KPIS are replicated to another DB (with transactional replication) which exploits the reports via SSRS to the consumers. Some KPIS are being replicated with merged (bidirectional) replication. Also, 10 Cubes in SSAS are being daily automatically processed and the end of the ETL. Several other reports are daily automatically produced and sent via email to the recipients. Finally I have designed and developed the bank’s crm DB which is published on the intranet. The DB holds full information about the customers (Customers,Addresses , Financial Data , Contacts , campaigns , etc) and covers 4 countries. To achieve this i have made partitions over the country code. The size of the Reporting DB, is about 4TB and consists of about 4.000 objects and the replicated KPI DB is 350GB. My approach is to develop an ssis package which will shrink the logs. Best Regards mpalgeo

I'm SQL server DBA and I've developed solutions using SSIS to purge SQL backup files and also purge files. my solution doesn't require any exe. And it is much effective solution

Hello, I have more than 14 years exeprience in MS SQL. EXE - what do you need - can be created. Log file = Transaction log file of the database. It will shring MS SQL LOG fil ( files) and then shrink it. In the any way - it will use MS SQL Commands, and for run it - you have to have min action at the database for clear log. exe will be written at C# and use framework 2.0. It will be portable, and can be run at XP SP3 ++ Regards
