Develop an app for BigCommerce

Summary. We run an ecommerce business [login to view URL] The business ships out goods from Great Britain to the world. Problem. Currently we don’t charge VAT correctly to customers from the European Union countries – businesses shouldn’t be charged 20% VAT, but individuals without VAT number should be charged 20% VAT. Problem in detail and what we want to achieve with the new APP. ORDERS FROM EUROPE Customers from all EU countries except Great Britain don’t need to pay VAT if they are a registered business and can provide a valid VAT number. But, if customer is not a business and can’t provide a valid VAT number than they need to pay VAT. Currently we add VAT to all orders from EU and check manually if the VAT number is valid after the customer places an order. Many times we need to re-send a new invoice without VAT to businesses. We want change that - automate the process and check the VAT number automatically before customer places the final order. Order from Denmark. Customer’s company VAT number is 26531799. Our VAT number is 151457127 and we’re from Great Britain. When the information is entered then the system shows “Yes, valid VAT number”. What we want from you. We want you write a Plug-in or App for BigCommerce to optimize the checkout process so everything is automated and customer pays the correct amount at the checkout.
