Hello,
How are you? A roommate/tenant has potentially violated Landlord Tenant (LTB) Rules (Laws) and policies by moving-in a potential prostitute into his room for over 15-days now. LTB policy appears foggy on the issue of amount of days a tenant may have a guest.
However, the Community Housing Authority manages 5800 units and 164,000 tenants with a policy in-place. The policy states that a tenant may not have a guest for more than 30-days. There are also other citations leading a landlord to make a decision of 30-day maximum.
Additionally, there are potential referrals. The primary tenant draws welfare. The tenant also has a side job that boats a five figure income monthly. The tenant as observed, owns significant assets while drawing welfare.
Since the tenant is 'employing' a potential prostitute by means of providing shelter without approval and replacing numeration with housing, the co-tenant is unable to have family visit due to the act and the 'residence' of a potential prostitute.
The potential prostitute and the tenant have been asked directly if the person/female is a prostitute. The female declined to answer, except to say, "...I can come here anytime I want...' T he tenant shook his head yes.
Co-tenant wishes to write a letter citing law as best as possible to the landlord; discussing the implications of the charges and potential remedies. This matter is under Ontario Canada law.
